~ LIVING UNDER THE LAW ~

ARE WE STILL BOUND UNDER THE LAW?
AM I CURSED IF I DON'T LIVE BY THE LAW
?
(Tithing etc...)
AM I CURSED IF I "DO" LIVE BY THE LAW?

Jesus “was“ the perfect sacrifice, making sacrifice no longer necessary. However, most people don't seem to fully grasp what that means, or the original purpose of the sacrifice. Translated, “sin” means “Transgression of the law”. No person in the history of mankind, except one, ever lived, that did not transgress against the law. (Sin)

Rather than being eternally condemned, God offered a way that they could wipe the slate clean and wash away or justify their sins. It was the sacrifice! The sacrifice did not wash away their sins forever, but was a ritual that needed to be performed periodically again and again as long as you lived, because no one could faithfully live by the law without transgressing against it.

God then, in his awesome compassion for us, provided the ultimate sacrifice. Someone who faithfully lived by the law, thereby fulfilling it. That was his Son, there after known as “The Lamb of God”.

Just as offering a sacrifice before the time of Christ washed away our sins and justified us to stand before God, this sacrifice provided by God himself, does the same. The difference is, Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. With his sacrifice, there never needs to be another. All the sins of your past, present and future, are washed clean, or “Taken away” and you are justified before God.

Romans 7:6 - But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

Romans 8:2 - For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS!

Whenever someone is finally set free from the law, you can count on some well meaning (but mis-informed) Church folks to come in and put them right back into bondage. Wasting no time, they whip out John 14:15 like a sword, then drive the offender right back into the cage Jesus set them free from.

John 14:15 - "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

You can't completely blame the church folks. Satan does his greatest work from right within the Church. I'm not saying they are bad people, (I'm not) but if they are letting their salvation depend on the law, there is a good chance they have stepped out from under the protection of God and are fair game for Satan to use. (Galatians 5:4)

WHAT ARE THE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS?

Jesus told us plainly what his commandments are. Most people have been led to believe that the commandments of Jesus are “all” of the laws of the Old Testament combined, they are Not! Those are Not the commands of Jesus, they are the “Laws of Moses”. (all 613 of them) The “Law” is what Jesus set us free from!

On the other hand, a commandment is just what it says it is. A Command! So, what is it that Jesus is commanding us to do?

John 15:12 - "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.

Galatians 5:14 - For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."

Romans 13:8 - Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:10 - Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Strangely, I didn't see anything about tithing, or any of the other 613 laws of Moses there. I'll point out that there isn't any curses or conditions attached there either. Jesus did not say: “Love one another or I'm gonna get you”, or your cursed with a curse if you don't”. He simply said: “Love each other, and use me as your example”.

~ THE NEW DEAL ~

When Jesus` heart stopped beating on the cross, a “new” covenant began at that moment!

Hebrews 7:12 - For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.

Hebrews 7:18 For, on the one hand, there is a setting aside of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

Hebrews 7:19 (for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God. (that would be the “new” covenant with Jesus Christ)

~ THE LAW FULFILLED - THE MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ~

Several times, people have quoted these scriptures to me

Matthew 5:17 -
"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Matthew 5:18 - "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

The key words to the above scriptures are: “Fulfill” and “Until all is accomplished”. Jesus “did” fulfill the law, and he “did” accomplish everything the Father sent him here to do. If he had not fulfilled and accomplished, then the law would have remained in place until heaven and earth pass away.

I'm sure you've heard a million times that Jesus set us free, and that Jesus redeemed us. Well meaning, and not so well meaning preachers have twisted this for years, to the point that the scripture has no valuable meaning. Have you ever asked yourself exactly what you are set free from? Or what you are redeemed from? The answer (mostly) is THE LAW!

Romans 8:2 - For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Galatians 4:4 - But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

Galatians 4:5 - so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Galatians 3:13 - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE"--

Throughout the whole period in which the old testament bible was written, the law was the law of Moses “period” and there were 10 commandments by God. There were no traffic laws, seatbelt laws, there were no laws to keep your pet on a leash, or any of the other  ridiculous laws that we have to abide by today. So, pertaining to this current day and age, I don't think God gives a whip about you or me, driving through a red light, when there are no other cars in sight.

The mission of my ministry is simply to “tell the truth”. Unlike many preachers who measure their worth and success by the number of alter calls, I know for a fact, that “I” can not save anyone. (and neither can they – only God can do that!) My purpose is simply to tell the truth, and point the way.

I would recommend that you seriously weigh the facts presented here, before you let your salvation depend on following the “Law”. (It “is” what God's son set us free from) I would offer a few examples:

Were you the first born male child of your family by your parents? If so, did your parents offer a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons to God? If you weren't, did they do this for your brother? I am asking because the law clearly states:

Luke 2:24 - and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, "A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS."

Do you yourself have children? A son? If so, did you offer a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons? If you didn't, I hate to be the one to break the bad news to you, but you are guilty of breaking “ALL” of the laws. Including: adultery, murder, homosexuality, you name it, every one of them! “IT'S THE LAW!!”

James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

Galatians 3:10 - For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM."

These are not “my” words, they are the word of God. We unfortunately, can not pick and choose which of the 613 laws of Moses we like the best then choose to live by them. James 2:10 makes it very clear, if you break just one of them, you are guilty of breaking “all” of them. Do you still wonder what it was exactly that Jesus set us free from? It was the Law!

For Christ has brought the Law to an end, so that everyone who believes is put right with God. (Read the whole thing Romans 10:1 through 13 – Paul was talking directly to “you”, and your “church” when he wrote this

Read the following verse Gal 5:4. Is this you? Do you want this to be you?

Galatians 5:4 - You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Here are some other scriptures that you might want to consider. (Note: these are not “my” words)

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 3:20 - Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law the knowledge of sin.

Romans 4:14 - For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified;

Romans 4:15 - for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.

Romans 5:13 - for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Galatians 2:16 - nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Galatians 2:19 - "For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God.

Galatians 2:21 - "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

Galatians 3:11 - Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

Galatians 5:18 - But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

WAS THE LAW MEANT FOR YOU?

1 Timothy 1:9 - realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers
1 Timothy 1:10 -
and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,

1 Timothy 1:11 -
according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. (NASB)

Romans 7:4 - Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

This is the only thing Paul wanted to know from the Church in Galatia and is a good question to ask yourself.

Galatians 3:2 - This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

Titus 3:9 - But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
