~ GOD CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS ~
You see, God can do anything he wants to do, because he is God! Just because the Church has set up a list of rules that God must obey, doesn't mean he has too or will. ~ WHAT GOD REQUIRES FROM YOU ~ If you want God to answer your prayers, it's important to know God and what he requires from you, not some made up version of God or what the church requires from you. Micah 6:8 - He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?I don't know about you, but when I call to God for protection from my enemies, I don't want a God that is too nice to deal with them, I want an angry, powerful God who will react the way any father would, whose child has been mistreated by an evil person! 2-Thessalonians 1:6 - For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, If I call to God because my marriage is falling apart and I am losing my spouse and children, I don't want a God that will read a long list of all the things I did to cause it. (one he borrowed from my pastor) I want a God and a father who will feel my pain and say: "I think you learned allot here, now stand behind me while I repair this for you. Stay close to me and you'll do better this time". Mark 10:9 - "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."When I find myself in court facing jail or prison, I don't want a God who will say "You deserve it, just look what you did". I want a God who says: "I'm the one who is in charge of your destiny" Fear Not. Isaiah 40:23 - He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.A LESSON FROM DAVID! David was an interesting character in the bible. God called him "a man after my own heart" and God loved David, but not for the reasons that you would think. Your local pastor will tell you, if you don't drink, don't swear, don't lie, don't smoke, don't steal, tithe faithfully to our Church every week, attend Church at least every Sunday, obey the ten commandments and donate your time and services when called upon, God will love you and you'll go to heaven. Using these standards, do you think that David (a man after God's own heart) went to heaven? "NOT A CHANCE!" Not using those standards. (you know, the same ones "you" are expected to live by) Living by these standards and rules will not make God love you more, they will just make your pastor more pleased with you. Some of the laws above were given for "your" benefit, to help you live a better life here on earth. They were "not" written for God's benefit! Some of the things above are not even laws. Smoking, drinking, etc... The truth is, David was responsible for killing tens of thousands of people. David committed adultery! 2 Samuel 11:3 - So David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?"2 Samuel 11:4 - David sent messengers and took her, and when she came to him, he lay with her; and when she had purified herself from her uncleanness, she returned to her house. David committed murder! 2 Samuel 11:15 - He had written in the letter, saying, "Place Uriah in the front line of the fiercest battle and withdraw from him, so that he may be struck down and die." David - Living pornography! 2 Samuel 6:14 - David was wearing an ephod only! (a very small piece of loose cloth) Dancing and leaping, he was exposing himself to the crowd. 2 Samuel 6:20 - Don't get me wrong, God did punish David for committing adultery, but it did "not" affect his eternal salvation or relationship with God. (Good thing God didn't catch David smoking a cigarette, or he'd have sent him right to hell-forever!!) I have people write to me that have been divorced and remarried. They have had preachers tell them that God will never honor their marriage because they've been divorced, and basically, they are told that they are toast! God loved David, even after all these terrible things that he did. Even after he committed adultery, had her husband killed and then married the girl for himself. 2 Samuel 12:24 - Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and he named him Solomon. Now the LORD loved him. ~ OFFENSIVE TO GOD? ~ David was rambunctious and had a habit of rushing in without thinking first. However, David recognized God as the one who should be feared. Not Satan, not men or anything else. David truly loved, trusted and feared God. However, you can add David to the list of people who would "not" be welcome in your Church by your pastor or 99.999999% of the congregation if he were alive today. Can you imagine for a moment, this guy dancing and leaping with all his might, up and down the isles of the Church Sunday morning, flapping around wearing nothing but a small linen ephod? (I don't mean to be too crude, but there is a point here) I don't think it would appease the pastor much when he simply explains: "Hey! I'm doing this to honor the Lord!" Instead, not only would David be told that he is going to hell, they'd offer to personally drive him to the train station and pay for his ticket to go there. What preachers say is offensive to God, and what actually "is" offensive to God, is usually two completely different things. Our morals are not God's morals, although we tend to mold God into what we would like him to be! If this very thing happened in our church today, we'd not only throw him out, we'd call the police and press charges and feel that God was completely 100% on our side. After all, this guy was exposing himself to all the ladies in the congregation. DARN IT, THERE WERE LITTLE CHILDREN THERE!!! He needs to go before a judge for indecent exposure at the least, or distributing pornography to children at the most! Let's lock him up with other perverts who will abuse him, and throw away the key. THE POINT! Here's my point. GOD LOVED DAVID! There is a lesson to be learned by the story of David, that will give more insight as to what God wants from "You".
Do you need God to repair your
marriage? - Make your friendship with God your first priority, even before
your marriage, then God will make your marriage "his" first priority.
(trust me) Do you have legal problems that
only God can make disappear? Looks like you need a friend! Do you need God to throw you a financial life preserver? (he won't, he'll give you a new boat!) ~ WHAT DAVID DID, THAT WAS PLEASING TO GOD ~ I will sum this up in one sentence, and if you are wise you will stop and dwell on it for a few moments, and not just skim over it. "God reads the heart, not the mind!" Do you get it yet? When God looked down at David that day, I'm not sure he even cared that David was dancing naked. I believe God looked directly at his heart and saw David so absorbed with how awesome God is, that he was dancing with all his might! It was his heart, not his actions that were pleasing to the Lord. Again, when David was a boy, he said: "For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, (Goliath) that he should taunt the armies of the living God?". David was saying: "Why is everyone afraid? (of Goliath) God is on our side, remember?" (1 Samuel - 17:26 - 36) David loved God and had faith. God in turn loved and protected David. God reads the heart! ~ HEART TROUBLE? ~ How is your heart? Fix your heart and God will take care of all your other problems also. How do you fix your heart? Seek God! Jeremiah 29:13 - 'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
